Treatment Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
One of the most successful treatments for anxiety disorders is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). CBT is a time limited, highly structured, active, skills building treatment intervention. Research indicates a 70 - 80% response rate, with gains maintained over time. By the end of treatment, many youth are classified as no longer having an anxiety disorder. Research protocols have documented the efficacy of CBT in children as young as 7 years.
Non-Anxious Self-Talk
Children as young as 2 years can benefit from learning to use non-anxious self-talk and desensitization through gradual exposure. Our approach involves parents in sessions, and considers them co-therapists or anxiety coaches for when their children are not in session.
Timing of Treatment
Sessions are usually held weekly for approximately 8 to 16 weeks, with daily homework assignments to facilitate the integration of skills to real life problems outside treatment sessions. Your therapist will advise you about an individualized treatment plan
